9 minutes is one chai break, and BYD says the new BYD Atto 8 can charge that fast. The seven-seat electric SUV debuted at the 2026 Paris Motor Show on 12 October. Europe gets the car first, in early 2027.
We checked every figure here on 12 October 2026. We will update this page when BYD’s local partner.
The only confirmed plan is a European arrival in early 2027. Watch the name, because it confuses buyers. BYD already sells a plug-in hybrid called Atto 8 in markets like Mexico and South Africa. The Paris car is the all-electric version, so always ask which one a seller means.
BYD Atto 8 specifications
The Atto 8 is a seven-seat electric SUV with a 115 kWh battery.
| Specification | Reported detail |
|---|---|
| Seats | 7 |
| Battery | 115 kWh second-generation Blade Battery |
| Range (rear-drive) | Up to about 652 km WLTP (405 miles) |
| Top version | Excellence AWD, 764 hp, 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds |
| Front trunk | 136 litres |
| Charging claim | 10% to 97% in 9 minutes |
| Pakistan launch and price | Not announced |
WLTP is a lab test. Real range in Pakistan will drop with the AC on, on hot days, and at motorway speeds. Treat 652 km as a ceiling.
BYD Atto 8 charging time: what 9 minutes means
BYD says the Atto 8 charges from 10% to 97% in 9 minutes on a FLASH Charging station. The 10% to 70% stretch takes 5 minutes. At minus 30°C, BYD says charging takes about 3 minutes longer.
These are BYD’s own claims, and the car has only just been revealed. The window runs from 10% to 97%, and it needs a FLASH charger. A normal charger delivers far less power.
A 7 kW home wall charger needs roughly 16 hours to fill 115 kWh from empty, before losses. That is our own maths, so treat it as an estimate.
Four things set your real charging time:
- Charger power at the station
- The car’s maximum charge rate
- Battery temperature
- Your starting charge level
Can Pakistan use 9-minute charging?
Pakistan has no confirmed network that can deliver BYD’s 9-minute charge today. HUBCO Green runs DC chargers from 30 kW to 120 kW in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, according to BYD Pakistan. The Atto 3 accepts up to 70 kW on those chargers.
BYD plans 3,000 FLASH stations across Europe by the end of 2027. No such plan has been announced for Pakistan.
One report says BYD is discussing ultra-fast charging for Pakistan. It gives no date. Success depends on stations, grid power, and cars that can take the load.
